Amine Chabane is an international entrepreneur and technology leader who co-founded Marseille, Inc. in 2005 as a culmination of a life-long pursuit of technology excellence. A native of Marseille, France, where he had his first sales experience, he pursued his childhood fascination with technology by first attending Marseille University (Faculte de Science de Luminy) where he graduated with honors at the top of his class and received a B.S. in Applied and Engineering Physics. He then moved to Paris where he was admitted into the prestigious National School of Telecommunications (E.N.S.T de Paris) and graduated with an MSEE. Mr. Chabane is an engineer at heart who started his career as a Research Engineer at the Signal Processing Lab of EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne) in Switzerland. He then moved to Silicon Valley to join C-Cube Microsystems as a Firmware Engineer leading the MPEG Encoding/Decoding Technology team and delivering products for key customers like Sony, Nokia and Dazzle Multimedia. He later co-founded BKP Security and acted as its CTO overseeing the development of computer security solutions for the Federal Homeland Security. Soon after, Amine joined Conexant Systems as Acting Director of Video Firmware Development Engineering where he successfully built a world-class video team which delivered highly-integrated MPEG-2 Encoder/Decoder SoCs (System-on-Chip). Working closely with the VLSI team, he developed a methodology providing a complete solution to the challenge of delivering first-time functional chips and first-time functional software concurrently. This lead to his deep conviction that a fundamental paradigm shift is required to address the rising costs of SoCs in particular for complex applications like video. The purpose and mission of Marseille Networks was born. Since the early days of Marseille, Mr. Chabane has always managed and continues to attract the best engineers and experts in DVD, Blu-ray and HDTV SoC design. He has become one of the few pioneers in chip virtualization technology and has positioned Marseille as the leader of the new wave of fabless semiconductor companies and Quad-HD video processing technology providers. Under his leadership, Marseille has managed to close an impressive level of VC funding in one of the most challenging financial environments on record. With his unrelenting passion for technology excellence, Amine continues to lead the Marseille team in its quest to revolutionize product development, solve consumer electronics challenges and deliver innovative chips for its customers. |
